Beşiktaş Women’s Basketball Team lost 76-74 against Fenerbahçe in the first game of the season in which a great contest was experienced.

Beşiktaş began with Yasemin, Johnson, Roberts, Şebnem and Selwyn in the game which was played at Kadıköy Caferağa Sports Hall. While Fenerbahçe scored points particularly thanks to Powell’s three-pointers, Beşiktaş answered with points scored by Yasemin and Johnson from under the hoop. The Black & White team wrapped up the first quarter of the game 25-19 in the lead.
Making a start in the 2nd period with 3-pointers scored by Şebnem Kimyacıoğlu, Beşiktaş had hard time stopping Powell and Nilay. Fenerbahçe, applying zone defense and scoring points after points thanks to Şaziye and Esra, trimmed the gap to 2 points with 4.5 minutes remaining. The home team went to the locker room 42-39 leading when the Black & White team lost balls and could not get organized in offense.
Both teams lost balls in the beginning of the 3rd quarter. While Fenerbahçe scored points in quick attacks thanks to Nevriye and Şaziye, Beşiktaş responded with Yasemin and Johnson. Fenerbahçe, which took advantage of the balls lost by Beşiktaş and was effective in attacks with Serap and Powell, took the lead 60-55 as it entered the last period.
Beşiktaş began the last quarter with zone defense and reduced the gap to 2 with points scored in a row. But, the Black & White team could not stop the baskets scored by Şaziye and Nilay, and had difficulty running back when the opponent team attacked quickly. Johnson’s efforts did not bear any fruits in the fight which was played breathless until the last moments and Fenerbahçe won the game 76-74.
