Beşiktaş Men’s Basketball Team lost the first game of the play-off final 73-68 to Efes Pilsen.
Beşiktaş started the game with a starting line-up of Andrew Ellis, Ratko Varda, Bekir Yarangüme, Khalid El-Amin and Haluk Yıldırım. Efes Pilsen that had been very effective under the rim in the first period made effective attacks also with the contribution of Kaya Peker. On the other hand, Black and Whites struggled to overcome Efes Pilsen’s tough defense. First 5 minutes passed with Efes Pilsen’s 14-7 lead. Beşiktaş took the lead back again by Khalid El-Amin stepping in, whereas lost Ratko Varda of whose foul number totaled to 5 with 4 minutes remaining in the game. Efes Pilsen went ahead again with a score of 66-64 with 2 minutes 45 seconds remaining in the game due to Beşiktaş having committed successive turnovers. Efes Pilsen won the competition 73-68 after having displayed a successful performance both in defense and offense in the final seconds.
