Beşiktaş Men’s Basketball Team lost the 2nd game of the semi final of the play-off to Ülkerspor 96-92. Beşiktaş’s 2-1 lead continued.
Beşiktaş set off the contest with a starting line up of Nedim Yücel, Haluk Yıldırım, Khalid El-Amin, Ratko Varda and Erkan Veyseloğlu. Black and Whites started the game well with Ratko Varda’s baskets, whereas Ülkerspor found consecutive points with Kerem Gönlüm, Stombergas and Zukauskas’s effective performances. Beşiktaş replied with El-Amin and Brett Maher and the first period finished with Ülkerspor’s lead of 27-11.Beşiktaş that had settled down its defense in the 2nd period and that cut the deficit with Ratko Varda, Andrew Ellis and El-Amin’s successful games in offense reached a score of 36-33 with 1,5 minutes left. Ülkerspor converted the foul shots during the final seconds and also led the 2nd period with a score of 39-35.
Despite Beşiktaş’s displaying a neck and neck performance against Ülkerspor in the first minutes of the 3rd period, it was the home team that had again pushed out the deficit with the points it had found from perimeter shots. This period concluded with Ülkerspor’s lead of 74-59.
There was an unbelievable struggle displayed on the court in the last period. Beşiktaş did not let the game go despite Ülkerspor entering the final 7 minutes 79-63 with a 16 point deficit. The Black and Whites cut the deficit to 10 and brought the score first to 90-80 with El-Amin’s consecutive points with 50 seconds remaining and to 94-92 with 1 second remaining in the game. Ülkerspor won the struggle in tactical fouls and the game by 96-92 and carried the series to 2-1.
