20 year of aspiration has been over. Beşiktaş Women’s Basketball Team that has brought a new fresh air to Women’s basketball and had started this season with the Championship motto beat F.Bahçe 74-56 and grabbed the league Championship of the 2004-2005 season.
Ladies of the Black and White, had enjoyed the successive Championships in 1983-84 and 1984-85 seasons and had started the 2004-2005 season with the Championship in mind, put an end to the 20 year of expectations in BJK Akatlar Sports and Culture Complex. The Black and White players, who hosted Fenerbahçe in the 3rd game of the play-off final, were given great support by the Beşiktaş fans that filled the bleachers.Beşiktaş players whose names were announced and who were invited to the court one by one began the game with a starting line up consisting of Esmeral, Mactabene, Arzu, Stinson and Hicks. The guest team Fenerbahçe took a 19-18 lead in the first period which was passed with mutual baskets of the teams. Beşiktaş regained the lead at the start of the 2nd period and was up with a score of 38-31 by the end of the 1st half thanks to its success both in defense and offense during the final minutes of the period. In the 3rd period, there was a Beşiktaş show on the court! Ladies of the Black and White pushed the deficit to 15 points at one time, with a score of 50-35. The third period was finalized as 55-39 Beşiktaş leading following the 3-pointer scored by Tuğba Palazoğlu in the final seconds of the period. In the 4th period, during which Andrea Stinson displayed her brilliant experience, the gap went up to 20 points with a score of 61-41 with 7 minutes remaining in the game. Beşiktaş won the game, of which the final seconds had passed by tactic fouls, 74-56 and achieved its 3rd Championship in its history.
After the final whistle, BJK Akatlar Sports & Culture Complex was turned into a carnival ground so to say. The Black and White fans sang and celebrated the Championship together with the players and technical staff. The fans enjoyed the Championship joy with confetti, anthems, flowers and cheers. The Cup, which was given to Team Captain Arzu Özyiğit by the President of Basketball Federation Turgay Demirel, rose up in the hands of the players with ecstasy. Beşiktaş had achieved the Championships in the 1983-84 and 1984-85 seasons before.
