The Beşiktaş Women’s Basketball Team beat the Mersin Greater Municipality team 88-77 in the first round of the Turkey Cup, played in Diyarbakır, and progressed to the quarter finals. 

The women of Beşiktaş couldn’t put in their desired performance at the start of the game and Mersin Greater Municipality was effective in the paint, in defense and in offense positions and quickly took a 8-2 lead. The Black and Whites, who later recovered, took the lead by with good use of Esmeral Tunçluer and Andrea Stinson, but the Mersin Greater Municipality were still leading 24-20 at the end of the first period.
Beşiktaş started the second period with Andrea Stinson's baskets, forcing their opponents to make mistakes with dual pressure and scored with some fast attacks. Beşiktaş ended the first half with a 41-36 lead.
Mersin Greater Municipality couldn’t prevent the Black and Whites extending their lead. Beşiktaş started the third period well with baskets from Yasemin Horasan and Andrea Stinson, despite a valiant attempt to fight back from Oshun Barnes and Katarina. Beşiktaş ended the third period with a 57-49 lead.
The Women of Beşiktaş continued to play effectively in the final period, extending their lead to 11 points before winning the game 88-77, ensuring their place in the semi finals of the Cup.
