Letter by our President
Dear Beşiktaş Fans,
As Beşiktaş Club, we pioneered again in Turkish sports world to end cursing and initiated the campaign “Don’t Curse, Don’t Let Curse”. We will act on this matter as befits to Beşiktaş and fulfill all of our responsibilities regarding this problem which is one of the most serious problems in Turkish sports.
We would again be the pioneers if the foul cheer will end in all stadiums and arenas of Turkey.
We initiated this campaign believing and trusting in our great fans.
Everybody in Turkey has seen the support of our fans in the game between Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor, played in BJK’s İnönü Stadium, where our campaign has started.
The invitation of both teams to the stands hand-in-hand by those, who set their hearts to Black and White colors, was a scene longed for years .These great and meaningful events will continue.
However, we have been really disturbed by the media focusing on the foul cheering during the last two minutes of the game instead of curse-free 88 minutes of the game.
In order to solve this problem, each organization, club in Turkish Sports, and media should demonstrate same kind of sensitivity such of ours and fulfill their liabilities.
There is no doubt that cursing, being the bleeding wound of Turkish Sports for long years, would not end in a day, a week or a match.
This serious problem would end under the leadership of our Club with most intelligent, creative, and enviable fans of Turkey provided that everybody would fulfill their own liabilities and responsibilities.
We would like to call everybody involved in sports for one more time and expect them to support our “Don’t Curse, Don’t Let Curse” campaign.
With my deepest love and respect,
Yıldırım Demirören
Chairman of Board of Management, Beşiktaş JK
