Beşiktaş Women’s Basketball team, which finished the regular season as the leader, has intensified its preparations for both Turkish Cup and League Championship. Coach Aziz Akkaya said “We would like to make a history by winning Turkish Cup”.

Beşiktaş, who was defeated only twice during the 22-week league marathon, is getting ready to win the Turkish Cup for the first time in its history. Coach Aziz Akkaya stated that they want to reach the happy end at the Turkish Cup to be played at Diyarbakır before the Play-Offs and said: “Beşiktaş invested heavily in basketball. Especially, the support given by our executives this year resulted in this success. I am confident in marching towards championship by means of our fans’ support. Our first objective is the Turkish Cup. We want to make a first by winning the cup and make a history.”

Aziz Akkaya stated that they have been in an intensive preparation period due to the Turkish Cup and the Play-Off games and said: “We increased the weight lifting exercises to 3 days per week. We first lift weights and then play ball. We also prepare our players for the tough marathon via preparation games. We finished the league at exactly where we wanted and obtained the home court advantage. However, in the league every team can beat each other. What is important for us is that we continue our mission without losing any home games from now on.”

The Turkish Cup games will be played on 8-10 of April in Diyarbakır. The Draw will also take place on April 7th in the same city.
