Beşiktaş Female Basketball Team finished the 22-week league marathon as the leader after Çankaya Üniversitesi beating Arı Koleji by 62-56. Coach Aziz Akaya said: “We promised for championship before the season. God willing, we would realize this promise after the play-offs.”

Çankaya Üniversitesi must beat Arı Koleji in order Beşiktaş remain as the leader of the last week of the 22-week regular season. The players, who seemed to be tense before the game, scraped of the tension with the buzzer and led the first period by 16-14.Beşiktaş, which was very effective in defense during the 2nd period, went to the locker room with a lead of 32-24 at the end of the quarter.
Black and White team’s lead slipped up to 3 (43-40) after its opponent’s effort to cut the deficit, since it struggled to demonstrate its game plan during the 3rd period. The Black and White ladies, who dominated again in the 4th period, completed the 22-week league marathon with 42 points and as the leaders following Çankaya Üniversitesi beating Arı Koleji by 62-56.  
The players and the technical staff celebrated completing the league as the leader and Esra Erden’s 21st birthday by a cake in the locker-room.
Beşiktaş would have the home court advantage in the play-offs since it won 20 games out of 22.
Basketball Branch Team Captain Şenol Demirağ said at his statement: “We worked very hard. Our female team took a big step in championship race after 23 years. We hope to be as successful as the regular season in the playoffs. We anticipate the support of our fans.”
Coach Aziz Akkaya underlined how tense the players were and stated: “We promised the championship before the season. We took the home court advantage by leading the season. Our players were tense today. We had played 21 games and could finish second in case of a defeat. Therefore our players were very stressful. However, we became the winning side. We are very happy. We owe to our fans and community. God willing, we will pay this debt at the end of the play-off.”
Team Captain Arzu Özyiğit Bildirir also expressed her feelings as follows: “I am very happy since we made Beşiktaş community to experience such a proud day. We know that we will reach this object with the support of our fans. Thank you all.”
