Don’t swear, don’t let others swear either!..

Beşiktaş’s president Yıldırım Demirören announced in the media meeting that
they started a “Don’t swear, don’t let others swear either!” campaign and sought
help from Beşiktaş fans.

President Yıldırım Demirören, Vice President Murat Aksu, Secretary General Kenan Öner, Manager Rıza Çalımbay, players Tayfur Havutçu, İbrahim Akın, Ahmed Hassan and the young fan Efe Özçelik attended the media meeting held in BJK Nevzat Demir Sports Complex.
At the meeting attended by a large number of reporters from different media channels,  Yıldırım Demirören underlined that Sports in Turkey must get rid of the abusive language and introduced their “Don’t swear, don’t let others swear either!” campaign. Our president emphasized that the abusive applause and abusive language is an inevitable reality in Turkish Soccer, and continued:
“If the abusive language will be stopped in our stadiums, this will, again, be led by Beşiktaş fans. We, as the board of directors, are commencing our duty by introducing our “Don’t swear, don’t let others swear either!” campaign today. The games played against Beşiktaş, which started last year and the referree mistakes brought us to a point of rebellion. But, abusive applause and abusive language too brought big tangible and intangible injury to the club and unfortunately only what Beşiktaş had done were brought up for  public discussion. Beşiktaş fans are smart. Beşiktaş fans are the fans to be jealous of. Beşiktaş fans are privileged and they know how to act and they had exemplified this beautifully in the past. Slogans coming out of Beşiktaş stands are scattered all over stadiums nation-wide. It must be noted that we can only defend our rights when we are hand to hand together as a society. We become weak in defending our rights by the use of abusive language and abusive applause. From now on, the duty fallen on our shoulders is to support our teams to the very end without abusive language. Our campaign is not for today, it is a long term one. We will have activities on announced dates. We are seeking support from our fans and the ports community.”
After the opening speech of our president, young fan, Efe Özçelik, who was seen on TV watching the Beşiktaş-Fenerbahçe game in his dad’s arms, took over and called out to the parents : “I want to grow up in the pitches where there is no abusive language. I am calling out to the parents: take your children to the games”
Manager Rıza Çalımbay emphasized that this is a very beautiful campaign and asked everyone to support it. Çalımbay said, “here, there are so many duties for the technical committee. The behavior and dialogues of the technical committee and the players shall be mild. We too, want the stands to be lively and cheerful. We want all the families to bring their children to the games. We want the media to support this campaign. And I think it will be great”
Manager-player Tayfur Havutçu, who spoke after Rıza Çalımbay reminded that Beşiktaş is always a leading and a model team and continued: “We are hand in hand with our fans and are starting the “Don’t swear, don’t let others swear either” campaign today. The abusive applause in the stadiums will end with the cooperation of Beşiktaş fans.”
Egyptian player Ahmed Hassan, supported the campaign by saying “Don’t swear, don’t let others swear either” in Turkish.
Player İbrahim Akın invited the families to the games and said “I am expecting our fans to have common sense and I say ‘please’.”.
