Fenerbahçe:70 Beşiktaş:67

Beşiktaş Men’s Basketball Team  lost the game against Fenerbahçe in their first match in European League’s Quarter Finals, in Abdi Ipekci Stadium 70 t-67.

Beşiktaş started the game in Abdi İpekçi with the cheers of their supporters who are always with them. They could hardly score at the beginning and defended very effectively. Beşiktaş passed the 6th minute 7 to 4 ahead and were the side to close the first period 13 to 7 ahead.
Beginning the 2nd quarter by the outside shots hitting their target by El-Amin and Tolga Tekinalp, the Black-White Team widened the gap to 9 points and brought the score to 21-12. But, having replaced Ratko Varda early due to 3 fouls and thus having difficulties under the hoop, accompanied by the ineffectiveness in the rebounds, the opponent Fenerbahçe began to close the gap and the first half ended in a 25-25 tie.
In the 3rd period, Beşiktaş was effective against the zone-defense of Fenerbahçe with outside shots and Fenerbahçe was effective with their under-hoop scores and in the 28. minute the score was 37-37. In the last seconds of the quarter, Fenerbahçe changed their defensive strategy to man-to-man, the tie was not broken and the third period ended 39 to 39.
In the last period, Fenerbahçe was effective with the outside shots of Mrsic and Salyers and we went intothe final 5 minutes behind, 56-46. The opponent continued to score with 3-point shots of Mrsic, together with the ineffectiveness of Beşiktaş in both the offense and defense, Beşiktaş lost the game 70-67.
The second game in the series will be played on 18th of January at 20.00 in Beşiktaş Akatlar Sports Complex.
