Beşiktaş : 74 Fenerbahce : 63

Beşiktaş men’s basketball team won the game against their old rival Fenerbahçe by 74 to 63, in the postponed game of the 19th week in BJK Akatlar Sports & Culture Complex.

Beşiktaş started the game fast with the great support of their fans and pressed hard against their rival from the first minute, by their efficient defense and with their easily-scored points in their strikes. Beşiktaş did not permit Fenerbahçe to score even one point during 2.30 minutes and had an advantage of 11-0 with the points of Ratko Varda and El Amin.
With their difficulty to score points from the backboard, brought down the gap to 5 points (17-12) by the two 3-point scores by Mrsic and Salyers. Although the yellow-blue team further brought down the score to three points with Barış’s scores, recovering Beşiktaş opened the gap further in the first period. With their superiority against their rival with both their offense and defense at the backboard, black-white team closed the first period by 28 to 14 against Fenerbahçe, who could score only 1 point from the backboard.
In the second period, with their successful zone-defense, Fenerbahçe did not permit Beşiktaş to score easily and brought down the score to 10 points (28-18). Beşiktaş couldn’t create opportunities against this zone-defense and with Salyer’s scores, the gap came down to one point in the 17th minute (32-31). Yellow-blue team came one point forward (33-32), the first time in the game, by the score of Harvey in the 18th minute. But with Nedim’s scores, Beşiktaş ended the second half by one point ahead:36-35.
In the third period, while Fenerbahçe continued their zone-defense, Beşiktaş chose man-to-man defense. In this period, Beşiktaş showed much better offense against the zone-defense, gained advantage at the backboard, was effective against their rival with Ratko Varda and closed the third period with 53-46 score advantage.
In the last period, Beşiktaş broke out against their rival and did not permit Fenerbahçe to have score advantage and left the field with a victory of 74 against 63 points. With this, Beşiktaş increased their points to 34 and settled in the third place after Efes Pilsen and Ülker with 36 points each.
