Three-Game Punishment for Carew

Turkish Football Association Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDB) punished Beşiktaş with playing 1 game without spectators, and John Carew with a three game suspension.

The Board discussed the incidents which took place during Beşiktaş-Sakaryaspor game played at the BJK İnönü Stadium on the 22nd week of the Super League, and as a result, BJK  İnönü Stadium was closed to spectators for 1 game and the Club was fined YTL 50 thousand. PFDB also punished the forward player John Carew of Beşiktaş with a three games suspension based on the video recordings of the game.
Kıvanç Oktay, Vice President In Charge of Football Branch, stated that they findthe punishment issued by PFDB on Carew rather severe and would appeal the same.
