Beşiktaş is in Quarter Finals

Beşiktaş Men’s Basketball Team made to the quarter finals defeating French Strasbourg 89-75 in the third game of the 1-1 series. The Black and Whites is matched with Fenerbahçe, the other Turkish team in the league. 

In the first part of the game, which was the scene of tremendous support of Beşiktaş fans filling BJK Akatlar Sports and Culture Complex, both teams scored a lot more under the hoop compared to outside shots. As Beşiktaş produced 14 points with Ratko Varda, Strasbourg found 12 points with Facardo, and Beşiktaş closed the first quarter of the bout 26-25 ahead by Bekir Yarangüme’s three pointer shot.
The Black and White team, starting the second quarter with zone defense, raised the gap to 11 points (42-31) in the 11th minute by scoring with 3 pointers of El-Amin, Ratko Varda and Bekir Yarangüme. The Black and White players, who maintained their effective performance, took the lead with 49-38 by the end of the first half.
Beşiktaş, starting the second half of the game slow, failed to find scores in the first 3 minutes; yet closed the third quarter 68-56 ahead with a 12 point lead, thanks to the shots of Bekir Yarangüme - El-Amin. Beşiktaş, effective with the baskets of El-Amin, Haluk Yıldırım and Andy Ellis in the last quarter of the game, made to the quarter finals in the European League, attaining 2-1 victory in the last game of the 1-1 series, winning the game with a score of 89-75. The Black and White players will play against another Turkish team, Fenerbahçe, in the quarter finals.
Fenerbahçe will host Beşiktaş on March 15 in the first game of the quarter finals. Game 2 will be played in Beşiktaş’s arena on March 18 with the final game to be hosted by Fenerbahçe on March 23.
