Beşiktaş: 4 – Malmö: 6

Beşiktaş said farewell to the  Efes Cup tournament after a 6-4 defeat by Swedish Malmö after the penalties in the match that ended 2-2 in regular time.

The first half of the match was full of reciprocal attacks and Beşiktaş missed a sure goal with John Carew in the 42th minute and closed the half at 0-0. Despite the pressure of Beşiktaş in the second half, it was Malmö who had a goal by Markus Rosenberg in the 59th Minute . (0-1)
Beşiktaş was effective in its attacks after this goal and equalized the score 1-1 with a goal by İbrahim Akın.
Having missed two scores with Okan Buruk in 72nd minute and Ahmed Hassan in 79th minute, Beşiktaş was 2-1 ahead with Veysel Cihan’s goal that came in the 83rd minute. Beşiktaş’s İbrahim Toraman was shown a red card  when the ball hit his hand 4 minutes (90+2) after his inclusion in the game and Malmö won a penalty kick. This penalty kick by Skoog resulted in a goal and the score of the match was 2-2. Under the rules of the tournament, penalty kicks were taken without overtime. After the penalty kicks, Beşiktaş ended up 6-4 behind against Malmö who will play the final in the tournament.
