Beşiktaş and Galatasaray had no goals in the first derby match of the Super League that ended in a 0-0 draw.  The match was played in BJK İnönü Stadium which reached a capacity of 32.000 after the renovation works. 

Before kick-off, Beşiktaş’s captain Sergen Yalçın and Galatasaray’s captain Hakan Şükür announced they were committed to fair-play and gave a friendship message to all spectators.  After the completion of renovation works that were launched in June 2004 at the BJK İnönü Stadium, 32.000 spectators filled the stadium in the derby match and urged Beşiktaş with their show in the stands. In the 2nd and more hard fought half of Beşiktaş-Galatasaray derby, the guest Galatasaray missed a penalty kick by Hakan Şükür. The final score was 0-0.
