Beşiktaş played a road game with Norwegian team Bodo Glimt in first match of 1st Round of UEFA Cup and the final result was a 1-1 draw.  The goals came from Runar Berg in the 20th minute and Ahmed Hassan in the 86th minute.

Being the dominant team in the second half, Beşiktaş had difficulties in overcoming the hard defense of the opponent. In the 86th minute, Ahmed Hassan divertedİbrahim Akın’s cross in the penalty area and managed to open up Bodo Glimt’s lock with a sudden shot.  Beşiktaş gained the advantage in Norway before the rematch when the Egyptian player equalized the score 1-1 .
