Beşiktaş got off to a flying start and a splendid header from El Bilal Toure, off a well-timed Vaclav Cerny cross, fired them 1-0 in front just after five minutes. At the 22nd minute mark, the Black Eagles had the ball in their opponents’ net again as Emirhan Topçu followed up a one-two with Toure and then rolled the ball into the far left corner. However, Fenerbahçe gained a man advantage when Beşiktaş’ Orkun Kökçü was shown a straight red card for a hard tackle five minutes later. With an extra mean on the pitch, the visitors reduced the deficit to 2-1 through Ismail Yüksek’s close-range finish. Then Marco Asensio levelled the matters for Fenerbahçe in stoppage time with a low effort and closed the scoring for the first half. While Black Eagles focused on defence, the visitors searched for the winner in the second half, and substitute Jhon Duran put Fenerbahçe 3-2 ahead with a late goal to secure the three points for his side.
