After last week’s hotly-contested 3-3 draw in Switzerland, Beşiktaş started the second leg in Istanbul attacking and applied the early pressure. The tactic paid its dividends as Ciro Immobile headed home a rebound off the post to give the home side a 1-0 advantage after just 6 minutes. Black Eagles had several other chances to increase their lead, but it was 1-0 for Beşiktaş at half-time.
Lugano managed to even the scores at 1-1 through Vladi Shkelqim at the 59th minute mark. However, Gedson Fernandes fired Beşiktaş back in front with a superb close-range finish 6 minutes later. Then, back-to-back goals from Rafa Silva, Ciro Immobile and Salih Ucan put the game out of Lugano's reach as Beşiktaş advanced to Europa League group phase with a convincing 5-1 victory.
