Gedson Fernandes put the visitors Beşiktaş 1-0 in front with a brilliant solo effort on 21 minutes. Lugano answered back through Uran Bislimi near the end of first half and it was 1-1 at half time. Back-to-back goals from Gedson Fernades and Al –Musrati gave the Black Eagles a 3-1 cushion at outset of the second half. However, the Swiss hosts reduced the deficit to one on a Renato Steffen goal before tying the game at 3-3 with an own goal from Gabriel Paulista after 63 minutes. Teams failed to produce the winner in the remaining minutes and had to settle for a draw. The two sides face each other again in Istanbul next week to qualify for the UEFA Europa league group stage.
