Playing in front of a packed home crowd, the Black and Whites looked the better side in the first half, but a 17th-minute goal from Simon Banza gave the visitors Trabzonspor a 1-0 lead going into the break. Beşiktaş started the second half with more energy and determination as Rafa Silva curled a perfect finish into the far corner of the net to level the scores on 52 minutes. Then, an own goal from Arseniy Batogov put the home side in front 2-1 mid way through the half. The visitors pushed hard for the equaliser in the closing minutes, but Beşiktaş defence stood firm to secure the maximum points.
