Black Eagles opened the match with Semih Kılıçsoy’s outstanding flying-volley goal just two minutes into their Super League clash against Göztepe at Beşiktaş Tupraş Stadium. While the home crowd was still in ecstasy, a 9th-minute own goal from Malcom Bokole made it 2-0 for Beşiktaş and had the crowd on their feet once again. However, the same player pulled one back for the visitors with a close-range header three minutes later. Then, another header, this time from Taha Altıkardeş levelled the scores at 2-2 going into half-time. Black Eagles definitely created more scoring chances in the second half, but it was the visitors who went ahead on 82 minutes when David Datro Fofana converted a break-away pass. Three minutes later, Juan Santos da Silva poked the ball home from close to give Göztepe a 4-2 lead for good.
