The home team striker Sporar took advantage of a Besiktas defensive blunder on 14 minutes, to put Slovan Bratislava ahead, but Adem Ljajıç levelled the scores from a penalty-kick 10 minutes later. Then, an own-goal from Bozhikov sent Beşiktaş in front for the first-half. Sporar would bring the teams back on equal terms once again at 2-2, with his second goal of the night after 58 minutes. While Beşiktaş struggled to find the winner, late goals from Ljubicic and Rhasalla lifted the home side to their first Europa League victory.
