Beşiktaş Get Corporate Social Responsibility Award
For carrying the Turkish Red Crescent name on football team’s jerseys free of charge, Beşiktaş won the Active Academy Corporate Social Responsibility award. Beşiktaş President Yıldırım Demirören received the award in a ceremony yesterday.
The 7th International Finance Summit organized by the Active Academy, which focused on financial restructuring after the current economic crisis, was held at Istanbul Swiss Hotel.
An award ceremony took place after the Turkish Economy Minister Doğan Babacan’s opening speech, and Beşiktaş President Demirören was presented with the 2009 Corporate Social Responsibility award by Prof. Salih Durer, the Head of Active Academy Jury.
After receiving the award, Beşiktaş President thanked the jury:
“I accept this award on behalf of our directors and community. It is a true indicator of how great we are. Beşiktaş’s corporate social responsibility efforts will continue non-stop. In our upcoming fixture against Fenerbahçe, we are going to wear jerseys with “Mehmetçik Foundation” name on them. For our club, money isn’t everything.”
In a gesture of unity and good will, Yıldırım Demirören then invited his presidential rival Mr. Murat Aksu to the stage to receive the award with him.
During the ceremony, prominent Turkish financial and business firms such as İş Bank, Garanti Bank, Koç Information Group and Eczacıbaşı Holding also received various Active Academy awards.
