Çaykur Rizepor 1 – 2 Beşiktaş
Our visiting Beşiktaş Football Team edged past Çaykur Rizespor 2-1 in Week 31 of the Turkcell Super League with goals from İbrahim Kaş (45+1) and Delgado (77).
The match was played on a warm spring day at Rize Atatürk and refereed by Bülent Yıldırım.
The Black and White got off to a fine start and displayed an attacking football in search of an early goal. But it was the home side which drew the first blood with 15-minute goal by Mehmet Çiçek. Beşiktaş pressed hard to get back on level terms and İbrahim Kaş tied the score in injury time off Tello’s long-cross with a brilliant strike to end the first half.
Beşiktaş brought on Delgado for Aydın Karabulut in the second half to provide additional scoring punch up front. This strategy paid off, as he put his club in front, 2-1, with superb 77th-minute drive from the left corner of the box. Mehmet Sedef (78) and Serdar Kurtuluş (85) entered the game for Tello and Nobre as defensive replacements. Playing solid defense, Beşiktaş were able to fend off a late challenge from Rizespor, as they ran out 2-1 victors.
The win raised Beşiktaş’s point tally to 64 with 3 matches left to play in the regular season.
