Beşiktaş supporters will achieve a first in world football history on Wednesday. One minute into the Benfica game, they will cheer in sign language to draw attention to the problems of racism in sports and the hearing & speech impaired people.
In their recent Turkish Super League match against Gençlerbirliğ, Beşiktaş supporters broke the loudest crowd record at 142 decibels and entered the Guinness Book of Records. Now, they want achieve another first in their Champions League Benfica match, which is scheduled for Wednesday at the Istanbul Vodafone Arena. To make their stand against racism and show their support for the hearing and speech impaired people, they will cheer in sign language during the first minute of the game. A video clip involving players that says ‘No to Racism’ has already been circulating in the social media.
