Stepping on the floor at the Kocaeli Sports Hall with a line-up of Kocic, Djukic, Çoban, Pribak, Dacevic, Döne and Özbahar , the injury-depleted Black Eagles had trouble getting organised offensively throughout the first half, but thanks to a string of Captain Döne goals and some fine goalkeeping from Kocic remained level 13-13 at the break.
 
The tight game continued in the second half, but led by the hot-scoring David Razgor and Ziga Mlakar, the Slovenian visitors opened up a two-goal lead at the halfway mark and then stretched it further in the later stages to run out 30-24 winners.
