Beşiktaş take the Turkish Cup

Both teams started the Cup final flexing their offensive muscles, but the Eagles eventually asserted their authority and went ahead through Quaresma on 32 minutes. Despite a flurry of late Büyükşehir chances, the score stood 1-0 in favor of Beşiktaş at half-time.

Büyükşehir looked the better side early in the second half and managed to level the scores on a 55th- minute İbrahim Akın penalty. The equaliser seemed to energise the blue and orange for more as they took the lead with a fine strike from substitute Gökhan Ünal 15 minutes later. But, at the 68th-minute mark, Beşiktaş defender Sivok’s perfect header brought the teams back on even terms once again and forced an extra time.
Both teams failed to get on the scoresheet in extra time and the match went into penalties. The Black Eagles won the penalties 4-3 and received the Turkish Cup from the hands of  Turkish President Abdullah Gül.
