Beşiktaş Cola Turka 71, Ceyhan Municipality 62

Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball claimed a 71-62 victory over the visiting Ceyhan Municipality in a Week 14 action at the Arena.

Soon after Dilek Ünüvar and Nykesha Sales traded baskets to start the game, the visitors imposed their authority that put them in front, 8-9, midway through the quarter. But the Lady Eagles regained control with a late 9-0 run and were up by eight, 26-18, entering the second.
Beşiktaş Cola Turka opened the second frame on a Iveta Salkauske layup and received a string of unanswered points from Yasemin Horasan and Nykesha Sales as the lead ballooned to as many as eighteen points, 39-21, just three minutes into the play. Ceyhan Municipality regrouped and tried to erase the deficit behind hot-shooting Dorene Perkins but was still down 42-33 at the half.
Though the Eagles struck first with Nykesha Sales’ opening layup, the visitors used the hot-hand of Dorene Perkins to stay close; but timely shooting and balanced scoring held them at bay, giving Beşiktaş Cola Turka a ten point, 58-48, advantage, heading into fourth quarter.
The early part of the final stanza saw Ceyhan Municipality put together a strong comeback that brought the Southern visitors within five points with 6:05 to left in regulation. Nevertheless, as the game rolled on, thanks to a flurry of jumpers by Kelly Silva Santos, Iziane Castro Marquez and Nykesha Sales, Beşiktaş Cola Turka managed to take the margin back to double digits. Unable to respond in any way, Ceyhan accepted its fate in the closing stages as the Lady Eagles pulled away to a well-earned 71-62 triumph.
