Galatasaray 92, Beşiktaş 58

In Week 1’s postponed game at Ahmet Cömert Sports Hall, visiting Beşiktaş Wheelchair Basketball went down 92-58 to  Galatasaray.

After opening the scoring with a layup, the Eagles swapped baskets and were up 10-8 midway through the quarter. But from that point onwards, Galatasaray turned to effective outside shots and managed to pull ahead 14-10 with 3:15 to play in the first. Then, three fouls sent Beşiktaş’s prolific scorer Aytaç Ercan to the bench as the weakened Black and White fell further behind, 23-14, heading into the second frame.

At the outset of the second stanza, a series of free throws kept the Eagles within reach , but as the game rolled on, Galatasaray regained control and pushed its advantage to 17 points, 37-20, with 5:00 to go in the half. Although a late rally helped the Eagles reduce the deficit  to 13, the yellow and red home team enjoyed a 46-31 cushion at the break.
The teams exchanged buckets in the early going of the third as the margin remained intact for almost five minutes. Then the Eagles started hitting nothing but the rim, and Galatasaray quickly took advantage of their scoring drought, extending its lead to 68-46 after three periods of play. The fourth stanza saw the host yellow and reds, who were playing with three internationally-recognized foreign stars, dominate the game right from the start to cruise to a 92-58 victory.
Football Committee and Board Member Responsible for Amateur Sports, Investments and Associations Doğan Küçükemre, Board Member Responsible for Amateur Sports Necip Sever and Beşiktaş Wheelchair Team’s sponsor  DG Farma Medicine’s Chairman Gökhan Orhun were at hand to watch the game.
