Beşiktaş 2 – 1 TKİ Tavşanlı Linyitspor (U-18)

Beşiktaş Under-18 team edged past visitors TKİ Tavşanlı Linyitspor, 2-1, in their first match of the season’s second half at the BJK Nevzat Demir Sports Complex.

Playing with a starting 11 of Umut Kaya, Oğuz Ceylan, Tevfik Doğukan Pala, Furkan Şeker, Ömer Arslan, Cumali Bişi, Ali Kuçik, Onur Bayramoğlu, Mertcan Demirer, Volkan Ekici and Kadir Arı, the young Eagles put in an impressive performance throughout the match.
Right from the start they put together a series of superb passing moves and tried to set up Ali Kucik with long balls thrown behind visitors’ defence, but the final ball let them down in the early going. In the 27th minute of the game, after a brilliant through pass, Beşiktaş’s Mertcan Demirer managed to dribble past the goalkeeper only to miss the open as his shot hit the side of the net. Three minutes later, however, Ali Kuçik controlled a deflected ball and rounded the Tavşanlı’s diving goalie to break the deadlock for the home side. With two minutes remaining in the first half, Volkan Ekici had a great chance to double the score, but his header from the far post was cleared on the goal line by the defence with the goalkeeper well beaten. The Eagles were a goal up at half time.

Beşiktaş kept up the pressure in the second half and went ahead 2-0 on 57 minutes when the man of the match Ali Kuçik chased another through ball, beat the defender to it and coolly slotted into the far corner for his second of the game. Sitting comfortably on a two-goal cushion, Beşiktaş tried to ride out the rest of the mach but saw Yılmaz Taşkıran pulling one back for the Tavşanlı Linyitspor ten minutes before full time. The visitors failed to build on the impetus given to them for scoring their goal in the remaining minutes, as the Eagles ran out 2-1 winners.
