Great Atmosphere

Beşiktaş’s Czech international Tomas Sivok, who has just recovered from a long knee injury, has answered the press’ questions at the Gloria Serenity Resort Hotel, where the Eagles have been training for the second half of the season:

“There is a great atmosphere on the team. With the addition of our new players, we look like a brand new team. After being away such a long time, I, myself feel like a newly signed and can’t wait to go on the pitch. Everyone on the team has a great attitude and is highly efficient, something we were missing in the first half of the season. The three new additions have already had a positive impact on our performance. We know how good they are and what they can do for us. But we must still give them some time because it is not easy to play in a foreign country.
In the second part of the season, we must treat each match as if it is final and try to win them one by one. We can close in on the league leader Trabzonspor by getting off to an early winning streak. In a three-point system, winning 4 -5 games may turn the table upside down.
My injury was a similar one I sustained on my other knee. My coaching staff and club management allowed me to go Czech Republic and finish the rehab over there. I worked with same unit who helped me recover from the previous injury. Now, I am fitter than ever. Besides, I’ve been training with the team during the past month and half.
Yesterday, I played with the young defender Ersan Gülüm for the first time. He is a talented, quick player who reads the game quite well. Moreover, you don’t come across too many left-footed stoppers in today’s football these days. He looked real experienced and sure of himself out there. He is going to be an indispensible player for this team in not so distant future.
Today, we have too many stars on our team, but the stars don’t make a complete unit, team players do. Our stars had become team players in their previous teams. That’s how they made themselves a respectable name. We have to do same here, blending them nicely with the rest of the team. The sooner they act like a team player the better it is for the team. Unfortunately, most stars are offensive minded so they may initially cause us some problems defensively. But I am sure they will adjust quickly and improve their defensive side of the game. In any case, we have turned into an excellent offensive side every team should fear from now on.
In short, we are looking better than the first half, and the new signing have created a positive atmosphere, which is going to enable us to make solid start into the second half of the season. I am confident we will grow into a more complete squad in weeks to come. Beşiktaş has been very good to me so I’d like to give back something in return.”
When asked about the young players, Sivok singled out Muhammed Demirci as a future prospect and said if the current young players worked hard and showed consistency, they would earn a permanent spot on the team.
