After the derby win over traditional rival Galatasaray, Beşiktaş Manager Bernd Schuster reflected on his team’s performance:

“This was a must-win match for us. In order to keep our title hopes alive, we could not settle anything less than three points tonight. Since the loser would drop out of the race, I am glad we won and stayed in the race. This victory will surely boost our confidence for our upcoming games. I thank all my lads for putting in a solid performance.  
Despite conceding a late goal, I think our defence and young keeper Cenk Gönen played very well tonight. Unlike the previous matches, they did not give away too many chances down the stretch in this one. Especially Cenk Gönen’s saves were instrumental in earning us the three points.     
Guti certainly lived up to expectations tonight and orchestrated his team with great passes. What can I say? He is a great player.”
