Partizan Galenika 71, Beşiktaş Cola Turka 63

In its third FIBA European Cup Group C contest, Beşiktaş Cola Turka women’s basketball fell, 71-63, to the visiting Partizan Galenika of Serbia at the Akatlar Cola Turka Arena last night.

Unable to overcome their opponents’ aggressive defense, the Lady Eagles trailed 23-12 at the end of first quarter. But the Black and Whites shook off their shooting woes in the second and managed to bring the deficit down to a single point, 36-35, heading into the locker room at the intermission. The Serbians took advantage of Beşiktaş Cola Turka’s tiredness in the third as they pulled ahead, 53-44, entering the final quarter. Nevertheless, just as in the second, the Lady Eagles mounted a wild comeback in the fourth and closed within a basket down the stretch, but Partizan Galenika replied with two unanswered three-pointers in the dying seconds to escape with a valuable 71-63 victory.
