Beşiktas manager Bernd Schuster commented on his team’s performance after 1-0 lost to Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality:

“In recent matches, we’ve been playing the game mostly in midfield rather than moving forward and creating clear-cut chances upfront. How can you score a goal if you don’t get into scoring position? “Goal fairies” are not going to be with you all the time.  We are definitely going through an unexpected scoring draught, and if we want to win matches, we urgently need to find a way to come out of it. Every team concedes a goal or two during a match, but if we do, the whole game turns into an uphill battle for us the rest of the way, and we completely forget our game plan.
I am not upset that we’ve lost to a second division side tonight. In cup games these things happen all time. I am upset because we seem to have lost our scoring touch. We were the most attacking team in the Turkish League at the start of the season, yet we are struggling to find the back of the net now days. Things have turned from bad to worse lately as we struggle to win even the easiest matches. I hope this is a temporary situation, and we get back on tract soon. We must find a solution to this dilemma, and we will.”
