Fatih Tekke Moves to Beşiktaş

The Eagles’ new addition from the Russian outfit Rubin Kazan has signed a two-year contract with the club in a ceremony attended by the Beşiktaş Vice-Chairman and Board Member Responsible for Financial Affairs and Sponsorships Ertunç Soğancıoğlu and Football Committee Member Cengiz Zülfikaroğlu.

In a brief speech made at the end of the signing ceremony: “We have decided to strengthen our forward line with Fatih Tekke and I think everybody here knows who he is, and what he is capable of. With this exciting team of ours, which is full of internationally- acclaimed stars, we intend to go all the way this season on all fronts.  As our recent scores will back me up, we’ve made a bright start into the season and plan to stay on this course until the end. With this opportunity, I thank our Chairman Yıldırım Demirören and Football Committee for making this transfer possible. I strongly believe that we’ll be able to fulfil all the dreams of our fans when the season ends,” the Vice-Chairman Soğancıoğlu said.
Striker Fatih Tekke also shred his thoughts on his new team: “I am happy to be back in my native country after so many years and thank Beşiktaş Board for making my dream come true. The expectations are very high for Beşiktaş this season; so I’ll give my best for our success at home or in Europa League. If I can contribute towards the realization of these goals, I’ll be the happiest man in Turkey. As far as I’ve seen, this is an extremely well-run club, and I wouldn’t mind hanging up my boots here.
After couple of training I’ll be back in top shape. In the meantime, I will always be grateful to those for giving me a second chance to show myself to the Turkish fans who I’ve missed a lot. I hope to prove everyone that I am still the same Fatih Tekke they’ve used to appreciate. After so many seasons in Russia, I’d like to continue my career in Turkey, picking up from where I left off.
Since I’ll be thirty-three in a few days, I’ve decided to wear the jersey numbered 33 to mark a new beginning and a brand new page for me. I plan to fill this page with noteworthy achievements which will be remembered for many years to come. But I also know that I have to work real hard to reach my goals because, with so many good players around, playing for Beşiktaş is not going to be an easy thing to do.”
Before the signing ceremony Fatih Tekke was taken to Maslak Acıbadem Hospital for an extensive check-up. Following a series of blood, eye and orthopaedic tests, under the supervision of the Club Doctor Devrim Urgun, it was announced that the former Turkish international was fit to sign.
