Vice President Kıvanç Oktay, who is also in charge of the Football Branch, said that Carew’s transfer to O. Lyon was finalized in the end of the negotiations made today (26 June) with the managers of O. Lyon and the footballer John Carew.

Oktay met with the managers of Olympic Lyon Club, John Carew and John Carew’s attorney and negotiated the transfer proposal made by Olympic Lyon for John Carew. Oktay made a statement after the meeting and said that they had agreed with the French team on transfer of John Carew for Euro 7.6 million.
Kıvanç Oktay said that Beşiktaş would receive 30% of the amount in the subsequent transfers of the Norwegian player. 
Whereas John Carew said “I told the Club managers that I wanted to play in French league due to family reasons. They were helpful about it. Therefore I would like to thank Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club for their support”.
Moreover, Kıvanç Oktay said that they had begun working on transfer of alternative names which they had determined right after John Carew’s sale.
