After the game played against Efes Pilsen, Yahya Kemal Gençer, Press Secretary for the Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Basketball Committee said that the team had a great season and made some important comments.

Dinçer said that they had expected a fierce contention which deserved the finals before the game, but they witnessed a different version, of what they had been observing since the beginning of the season, in the 4th game of the final series. Dinçer said “In spite of that, Beşiktaş Men’s Basketball Team has had a great season. The team has played the finals after 30 years and its way to championship was blocked.” Yahya Kemal Gençer continued as follows:
 “In spite of that, if you don’t mind me saying so, Beşiktaş Men’s Basketball Team is the true champion in the hearts of basketball fans and Turkish people. We watched another comedy here. We watched a different version of the referee administration method which we have seen since the beginning of the season. The referee, who literally whistled against us at Turkey Cup played in Bursa, was here on the stage again right after the basketball game that women’s team played with Fenerbahçe, in a period as short as 12 hours.  
As a matter of fact, it has to be decided whether or not Turkish Basketball Leagues will become a commercial league or remain as a sports league. In other words, it needs to be determined that how much sports should be involved in commerce and vice versa. This has to be carefully determined in a sport branch such as basketball which has a rising value in Turkey.
I congratulate my friends; I thank our community which supported our team. God willing, we will provide a different momentum with a different enthusiasm in the basketball leagues next season. However, just as I said, these referee games has to be stopped, please… If necessary our referees should be trained also. Let’s end the double standard.
