MATCH REPORT

Despite missing 6 regulars from their starting line-up, the already-qualified Eagles went a goal up after 10 minutes on a penalty-kick from striker Alvaro Negredo. Recovering quickly, the German hosts searched for the eaqualiser during the remainder of the first half, but with no luck whatsoever. RB Leipzig upped the pressure in the second half, but Beşiktaş goal-keeper Tolga Zengin managed to keep them at bay with a several clutch saves until the closing stages. Nevertheless, Naby Keita almost ruin the party for the Black Eagles with a late goal, but Anderson Talisca made sure in injury time that all three points belonged to Beşiktaş. The victory, coming in the final match of the Champions League Group G, increased the Black Eagles’ points to 14, the highest point tally ever achieved in the group stage by a Turkish team. They were also the only Turkish Team qualified from the group stage undefeated.
